We’re excited to share a transformative development for Peru’s travel landscape: the new Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima will officially begin operations on June 1st, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. This milestone marks a significant leap forward in national and international air connectivity, offering travelers an enhanced gateway to explore the wonders of Peru.
What You Need to Know
As part of the airport’s phased implementation, a “marcha blanca” (trial period) will commence on May 15th, during which essential processes and infrastructure will be tested. This soft launch aims to ensure seamless operations once the airport is fully functional.
The current airport will cease all operations at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, May 31st. A 12-hour transition window will follow, during which no takeoffs or landings will occur between midnight and 12:00 p.m. on June 1st. This short pause is essential for the safe and efficient migration of services to the new terminal.
What This Means for Travelers
If you're traveling to or from Lima during this transition period, please be aware that flight schedules may be adjusted. Airlines will be contacting affected passengers directly to communicate any changes. We recommend staying in close contact with your airline and checking official sources for the latest updates.
This new terminal promises modern amenities, improved efficiency, and greater capacity—enhancing the experience of all who arrive in Peru, whether for adventure, culture, or relaxation.

As always, Limatours will keep you updated on new operational arrangements that may affect your travel. We invite all travelers to stay tuned through the official channels of the airport and airlines.
